Chabad-Lubavitch annual Chanukah event set for JCC on Thursday night
The Chabad-Lubavitch of Louisiana annual event, held at the Riverwalk in the most recent past, is going to be held at the Bart Field of the Jewish Community Center this year due to the unavailability of the Riverwalk complex during the Christmas holiday. The event is slated to be held tomorrow night, December 26, 2024, from 4- 6 p.m..

Instead of holding the event on the first night of Chanukah, which is their usual practice, Rabbi Mendel Rivikin, who chairs the event, has opted to hold the event on the second night, thus insuring its independence from any other religious observance.
The largest Chanukiah in the State of Louisiana, designed by Holocaust survivor Isak Borenstein, z’ll, will be lit tomorrow night.d The lighting will occur after 5 p.m.
There will be kosher food along with traditional latkes, games for the children and music.
