Berger,<\/strong>who for more than 30 years has been at the forefront of major real estate transactions in New Orleans, including developments on the riverfront and French Quarter, has been named chair-elect of the Board of Tulane, the university\u2019s main governing body. He graduated with a juris doctor from Tulane in 1972, the same year he founded Darryl Berger Investment Corporation.<br \/>\n\u201cTulane University has always been a major part of my life, so this new role will be a great challenge and a great joy for me. I\u2019m especially excited since this is such an extraordinary time in Tulane\u2019s history and Tulane means so much to our community,\u201d Berger said.<br \/>\nBerger is a past chairman of the Tulane President\u2019s Council, a member of the Tulane Law School Dean\u2019s Council and currently serves as Tulane\u2019s representative on the Board of the University Medical Center, which is under construction downtown. In 2004 he received the Tulane University Distinguished Alumnus Award.<br \/>\nHe is the recipient of numerous honors including: Gambit\u2019s New Orleanian of the Year award; the Jewish National Fund Tree of Life Award; the Institute of Human Understanding Award for 10 Outstanding People of 1985; the Young Leadership Council\u2019s Role Model Award; the Volunteer Activist Award; the National Conference for Community and Justice Weiss award; Newman School\u2019s Distinguished Alumnus Award and the Anti-Defamation League\u2019s Torch of Liberty award.
