She was 94.<\/p>\n<p>A native of Nashville, TN, she moved to New Orleans after marrying native New Orleanian, Bernard \u201cBarney\u201d Mintz. She fell not only for her husband, but also quickly for New Orleans and became one of its most\u00a0prominent supporters. \u00a0Together, the Mintzes enjoyed a passion for a great many things together &#8211; among them fine dining and following the New Orleans Saints. One of her biggest drives in life, however, was for philanthropy. She truly enjoyed giving of her money and her time. An inveterate shopper, she was known to retail and service employees throughout the metropolitan area.<\/p>\n<p>Mintz was predeceased by her husband of 61 years. She is survived by her sons \u00a0Steven Mintz (Mary) and Robert Mintz, daughters Joanie Shubin (Lewis) of Atlanta, GA and Suzanne Mintz (Jonathan Elkind) of Silver Spring, MD, and five grandchildren.<\/p>\n<p>A private memorial service is planned. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a charity of your choice.\u00a0Tharp-Sontheimer Funeral Home of Metairie is in charge of arrangements.
