{"id":20528,"date":"2014-12-12T09:12:29","date_gmt":"2014-12-12T15:12:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.crescentcityjewishnews.com\/?p=20528"},"modified":"2014-12-12T09:12:52","modified_gmt":"2014-12-12T15:12:52","slug":"israeli-film-gett-nominated-for-golden-globe-award","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.crescentcityjewishnews.com\/blog\/israeli-film-gett-nominated-for-golden-globe-award\/","title":{"rendered":"Israeli film \u2018Gett\u2019 nominated for Golden Globe Award"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>(JNS.org) &#8212; The Israeli film \u201cGett: the Trial of Viviane Ansallem\u201d has been selected as one of the top five nominees for best foreign film at America\u2019s Golden Globes Awards.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGett\u201d will be competing with \u201cLeviathan\u201d from Russia, \u201cForce Majeure\u201d from Sweden, \u201cIda\u201d from Poland, and \u201cTangerines\u201d from Estonia. \u201cGett\u201d tells the story of Viviane Ansallem, a woman whose husband refuses to give her a divorce. Ansallem faces the Israeli divorce process, which is controlled by Jewish law, and encounters the obstacles posed by the rabbinical court. The film, produced in conjunction with partners in Germany and France, is considered one of the most significant Israeli co-productions to date.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a great honor to keep giving Viviane Ansallem a voice, in the name of women in Israel and all over the world, who win their freedom and independence as women. I still haven\u2019t internalized it.
