{"id":22643,"date":"2015-03-18T06:21:34","date_gmt":"2015-03-18T12:21:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.crescentcityjewishnews.com\/?p=22643"},"modified":"2015-03-20T10:16:48","modified_gmt":"2015-03-20T16:16:48","slug":"record-number-of-women-elected-to-knesset-in-race-with-high-voter-turnout","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.crescentcityjewishnews.com\/blog\/record-number-of-women-elected-to-knesset-in-race-with-high-voter-turnout\/","title":{"rendered":"Record number of women elected to Knesset in race with high voter turnout"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>JERUSALEM (JTA) &#8212; In an election with the highest voter turnout since 1999, a record 28 women were chosen for the 20th Knesset.<\/p>\n<p>The percentage of eligible voters who came out Tuesday was 71.8; the turnout 14 years ago was 78.7 percent.<\/p>\n<p>Ten of the parties running in the election garnered seats in the Knesset, with 15 not reaching the electoral threshold of 3.45 percent, or four seats.<\/p>\n<p>The number of women elected broke the record of 27 set in the 2013 elections, according to the Israel Democracy Institute.
