{"id":30717,"date":"2016-06-16T09:23:44","date_gmt":"2016-06-16T15:23:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.crescentcityjewishnews.com\/?p=30717"},"modified":"2017-03-12T06:38:56","modified_gmt":"2017-03-12T12:38:56","slug":"retired-nurse-rosemary-davis-katz-fortmayer-funeral-set-for-friday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.crescentcityjewishnews.com\/blog\/retired-nurse-rosemary-davis-katz-fortmayer-funeral-set-for-friday\/","title":{"rendered":"Retired nurse Rosemary Davis Katz Fortmayer funeral held June 17"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\">ROSEMARY DAVIS KATZ FORTMAYER, a registered nurse and mother, passed away on Wed., June 15, 2016.\u00a0 She was 77 years.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">She is survived by \u201cThe Katz Boys\u201d: Barry, Jeff (Jane), Mark (Tricia), and Bruce Katz (Karen); her sister Marlene Sherman (Al) and two grandchildren.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Fortmayer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Born and raised in Brooklyn, she moved to New Orleans in 1957.\u00a0 She graduated with honors from Charity Hospital School of Nursing, and worked for decades as a registered nurse.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Fortmayer doted on her children and grandchildren and came to love New Orleans culture, especially Mardi Gras and enjoyed following her favorite sports teams the Saints and LSU.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">A memorial service at Temple Sinai was held on Fri., June 17, at 11:30 a.m. \u00a0Rabbi Ed Paul Cohn officiated. Interment was private.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are requested in her name to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jfsneworleans.org\/support-us\/\" target=\"_blank\">Jewish Family Service of Greater New Orleans<\/a>, 3300 W.
