{"id":32560,"date":"2016-10-19T22:54:46","date_gmt":"2016-10-20T04:54:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.crescentcityjewishnews.com\/?p=32560"},"modified":"2016-10-21T14:09:49","modified_gmt":"2016-10-21T20:09:49","slug":"edwin-zerlin-93-laid-to-rest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.crescentcityjewishnews.com\/blog\/edwin-zerlin-93-laid-to-rest\/","title":{"rendered":"Edwin Zerlin, 93, laid to rest"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\">EDWARD ZERLIN, a native of New Orleans, died on Sunday, October 16, at the age of 93.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Zerlin was a lifelong member of Congregation Gates of Prayer, and was a graduate of Samuel J. Peters High School.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">During \u00a0World War II, he served in the United States Coast Guard.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">He is survived by his wife Charlotte\u00a0Opatowsky\u00a0Zerlin, children Michael\u00a0Zerlin (Rachel Krimkowitz),\u00a0Eileen\u00a0Zerlin\u00a0Fisher (Harold) and Ann Zerlin\u00a0Streiffer (Richard), six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Betty Zerlin Zelman (Louis) and his sister-in-law, Helen Goldberg Zerlin\u00a0Sperling.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Graveside services were held on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Gates of Prayer Cemetery, 1428 Joseph Street. Rabbi Robert Loewy officiated.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Gates of Prayer Synagogue, 4000 W.
