Hew as 91.<\/p>\n<p>Barber was originally born in Krakow, Poland and emigrated to the United States while only 3 years old. He graduated from Fortier High School before serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Upon his return, he worked his way up to become vice president of Globe Savings &amp; Loan. He was a very religious man and was devoted member of Anshe Sfard Synagogue.<\/p>\n<p>He is survived by his wife of more than a half-century, Rose Fernandez Barber; his step-daughter Jacqueline Gomes Dickson and step-son Terrance J. Gomez as well as his sister, Esther Barber Rosenberg.<\/p>\n<p>Graveside services will be held on Friday, March 17, 2017 at 2:00 p.. in Anshe Sfard Cemetery, 4400 Elysian Fields Avenue. Rabbi Gabriel Greenberg will officiate.<\/p>\n<p>Memorial donations are suggested to Anshe Sfard Synagogue, 2230 Carondelet St., New Orleans, LA. 70130.
