DEBORAH JEAN SCHUELLER LEVIN, a longtime resident of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Sunday, Aug. 25, 2019, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City following a protracted battle for her respiratory health. She was 64.<\/div>\n
 <\/div>\n
Known to her friends as Deb, she was instrumental in pushing for the creation of “This Day in Jewish History,” a compendium of facts based on the Gregorian calendar date and its corresponding dates on the Hebrew calendar. The daily column, which is authored by her husband, Mitchell Levin, is the oldest feature on the Crescent City Jewish News<\/a> and also currently runs over the Cleveland Jewish News<\/a> websites.<\/div>\n

Levin was born in Dubuque, Iowa, and graduated from Dubuque Senior High School. After attending the University of Iowa, she graduated with honors from the School of Law. She was a staff attorney at AEGON in Cedar Rapids. <\/div>\n

Levin was a member of both Temple Judah in Cedar Rapids and Agudas Achim Congregation of Iowa City (Coralville).<\/div>\n

In addition to her husband, Mitchell Levin of Cedar Rapids, who is a graduate of Tulane University, she is also survived by her mother, Eleanor Schueller, and her brother, Steven Schueller (Debra Ganfield) of Dubuque, Iowa. <\/div>\n

Private graveside services will be held today, Friday, August 30, 2019.<\/div>\n
 <\/div>\n
Memorials in her honor are preferred to Willis Dady Emergency Shelter<\/a>, 1247 Fourth Ave. SE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52403.<\/div>\n
