Brown\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Amanpour made the comparison on Thursday in the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/grabien.com\/story.php?id=314135\">introduction<\/a>&nbsp;to her show, \u201cAmanpour,\u201d which CNN&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/edition.cnn.com\/shows\/amanpour\">calls<\/a>&nbsp;its \u201cflagship global affairs interview program.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201dThis week 82 years ago, Kristallnacht happened,\u201d Amanpour said in the monologue. \u201cIt was the Nazis\u2019 warning shot across the bow of our human civilization that led to genocide against a whole identity, and in that tower of burning books, it led to an attack on fact, knowledge, history and truth. After four years of a modern-day assault on those same values by Donald Trump, the Biden-Harris team pledges a return to norms, including the truth.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Amanpour came under fire for the analogy on Twitter.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is @camanpour on @CNN comparing Trump\u2019s tenure to Nazi Germany. How the hell is this sort of prejudice tolerated on mainstream media? Third rate rubbish,\u201d&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/benhabib6\/status\/1326965584781828096\">wrote<\/a>&nbsp;Ben Habib, a British former European Parliament member for the Brexit Party.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDespicable. @camanpour compares verbal fact checking of a POTUS to a Nazi pogrom in which dozens of Jews were murdered,\u201d the Orthodox Jewish Public Affairs Council, a small group representing haredi Jewish interests,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/OJPAC\/status\/1327228523178766336\">wrote<\/a>&nbsp;on Twitter.<\/p>\n<p>Amanpour has not responded to the criticism.<\/p>\n<p>Comparisons between contemporary politics and Nazi Germany have been considered beyond the pale by Jewish groups. An&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jta.org\/2020\/09\/30\/politics\/nazi-comparisons-have-long-been-off-limits-for-american-jews-a-new-political-ad-suggests-thats-changing-in-the-trump-era\">advertisement released in September<\/a>&nbsp;by the Jewish Democratic Council of America that drew parallels between the rise of fascism and the Trump presidency was swiftly condemned by the Anti-Defamation League.
