He was very proud to have outfitted most of the dancing schools throughout the city for decades as well as having been a primary source of wear for Mardi Gras krewes and equestrian units as well.

Goldstein was an exceptional musician and played first trumpet at Fortier High School, a year before his classmate Al Hirt. After graduating from Loyola University with a music degree, he became part of the United States Army Air Corps, the precursor to the United States Air Force. He received his flight training as a cadet and was a part of the 99th Air Corps Band.

Goldstein was a devotee of military aviation and an enthusiastic memorabilia collector. Following the war, he also served briefly as the band director at Behrman High School before opening the first of his retail locations.

Goldstein enjoyed traveling and was a great ambassador for the City of New Orleans. He thrilled at Mardi Gras time to the marching bands, mounted units and themed floats and was an enthusiast for New Orleans cuisine. He was a devoted fan of the New Orleans Saints and was a noted tennis player, who frequented the courts at City Park for many a match.

He was married for 73 years and predeceased by his wife, Joyce Brener Goldstein and is survived by his children Carolyn G. Loewenthal ( Robert) of Longmeadow, MA. and Sidney Leon Goldstein (Celeste) of Dallas, TX., three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A graveside service was held on Thursday, February 4 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at the Garden of Memories Cemetery, 4900 Airline Drive in Metairie. Tharp-Sontheimer-Tharp Funeral Home of Metaire was in charge of arrangements.
