It features the musicians galavanting around New York City, riding the subway and hobnobbing with sidewalk vendors in Times Square.<\/p>\n<p>The pair are two of the best known Jewish rappers making music today. Black is a Black American and Hasidic Jew who moved to Israel in 2016, while Dillz is&nbsp;the stage name of Israeli-American rapper Rami Even-Esh.<\/p>\n<p>Together, they borrow Sandler\u2019s earworm Chanukah melody and knack for inventing words to rhyme with the holiday\u2019s name. \u201cAw man, yes, Hanukkah,\u201d they sing in the chorus. \u201cThe flow is so iconikah.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But where Sandler\u2019s lyrics ran down a laundry list of notable Jews, from David Lee Roth to Tom Cruise\u2019s agent, \u201cThe Hanukkah Song 2.0\u201d tackles weightier topics, including the miracles at the heart of the holiday and the role of God in protecting the Jewish people over time.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"The Hanukkah Song 2.0 - Nissim Black &amp; Kosha Dillz [Adam Sandler Remix]\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/8zgmFA0HDVg?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" class=\"lazyload\" data-load-mode=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou know we\u2019ve been down, but we\u2019ve come around, they put our heads down and God took us out,\u201d sings Black at one point. \u201cFor eight nights we make a great light and we show the world we\u2019ve won.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The video begins with Black arriving at the airport, presumably from Israel, where he lives in a haredi neighborhood that he has described as uncommonly diverse and accepting. The strains of Sandler\u2019s original hit are audible in the background.<\/p>\n<p>The haredi Orthodox musician then raps about the miracle of Hanukkah and the power of God. But he declines to name either the many people who have tried to destroy the Jews or which day of the holiday it is. (\u201cI\u2019m not saying it eight times \u2014 you\u2019ll have to replay this,\u201d he sings.)<\/p>\n<p>Throughout Black\u2019s solo performance, Dillz can be seen surrounding himself with a variety of menorahs. The pair meet up on the subway, where Dillz begins a solo of his own. In the song\u2019s final section, the pair dance on the steps of Penn Station as masked passersby gawk and stare up at a (simulated) poster in Times Square advertising their upcoming performance.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s a billboard for the pair\u2019s shared \u201cBright Lights\u201d tour that is set to begin next week in New York City and to criss-cross the United States through December and January.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Hanukkah Song 2.0\u201d pays homage to its inspiration in more ways than its title and melody. Black and Dillz mention Sandler\u2014who has in the decades since releasing \u201cThe Chanukah Song\u201d gone on to a critically acclaimed, genre-spanning movie career \u2014 in the lyrics.
