“SHAVUOT SUNDAE<\/strong>“<\/p>\n

There once was a bully
\nNamed Gustave McSwat,
\nWho terrorized his neighborhood
\nWith a swipe of his bat.<\/p>\n

He hated to study,
\nHe hated his school.
\nHe\u2019d sit and watch TV
\nAnd think he was cool.<\/p>\n

One day he caught sight
\nOf some neighborhood boys
\nWho were walking to synagogue
\nMaking some noise.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ll make them think twice
\nAbout coming past me.
\nI\u2019ll make them pay dearly,\u201d
\nMcSwat said with glee.<\/p>\n

He stood in their way
\nWith his bat held up high.
\nThe boys were all frightened;
\nThey started to cry.<\/p>\n

But the bravest of them all
\nWas named Samuel Lox
\nHe came up with a plan
\nThat was crazy like a fox.<\/p>\n

He said \u201cWait a minute.
\nThis is not what it may seem.
\nToday is Shavuot,
\nThe holiday of ice cream.\u201d<\/p>\n

It was known McSwat was lazy.
\nThat was so true;
\nBut McSwat had a sweet tooth
\nAnd this Samuel knew.<\/p>\n

So, he told McSwat simply
\nThat if he would stop,
\nHe could have a new sundae
\nWith a cherry on top.<\/p>\n

\u201cJust follow us to shul
\nAnd you\u2019ll have your big treat.\u201d
\nAnd McSwat\u2019s tongue
\nForced him to shuffle his feet.<\/p>\n

The boys ran in first.
\nThen came McSwat.
\nWho was right behind them,
\nHolding onto his hat.<\/p>\n

He thought of the ice cream
\nAnd how good it would taste.
\nThe boys in the meantime
\nMoved ahead with all haste.<\/p>\n

They moved through the sanctuary
\nAnd on through the hall.
\nSamuel Lox led the way,
\nThe bravest of all.<\/p>\n

Out past the big doors
\nAnd on past the study
\nThat overlooked the garden
\nWhich was untidy and muddy.<\/p>\n

The boys knew the garden
\nWas in reality a trap.
\nIf they closed the door behind them,
\nThey\u2019d cage that big sap.<\/p>\n

So they rushed towards the door
\nAnd slammed it with a thud
\nLeaving Gustave McSwat
\nAll alone in the mud.<\/p>\n

And while McSwat whimpered
\nAnd a lesson he learned.
\nThe boys grabbed all the ice cream
\nOf which he had yearned.<\/p>\n

And through the big windows
\nHe watched them all eat
\nThe thirty-one flavors that were
\nCold and soooo<\/em> sweet.<\/p>\n

\u201cWill you stop being a bully?\u201d
\nAsked Samuel with a shout.
\n\u201cWill you let us all be?
\nYou offensive big lout?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you stop being hateful,
\nWe\u2019ll consider you a friend
\nAnd the ice cream you desire,
\nYou\u2019ll get in the end.\u201d<\/p>\n

McSwat thought it over
\nAnd at last he agreed
\nTo put down his bat
\nAnd to have a new creed.<\/p>\n

They gave him a sundae
\nWith chocolate and cherries.
\nHe gobbled it up
\nAnd added strawberries.<\/p>\n

And after he ate
\nHe pronounced to them all
\nThat he\u2019d no longer bully
\nThose that were small.<\/p>\n

And Gustave McSwat
\nVery true to his word
\nBecame a good citizen
\nIn case you\u2019d not heard.<\/p>\n

So the dairy of Shavuot
\nAnd in particular, ice cream,
\nHelped bring about change
\nIn a boy who was mean.<\/p>\n

And he knew one thing more
\nThat he\u2019d say for a joke;
\nAn adage that might make
\nYou chortle and choke.<\/p>\n

No matter what week,
\nNo matter what day
\nMcSwat knew Shavuot
\nWas always sundae!<\/p>\n
