{"id":7824,"date":"2013-06-25T06:39:00","date_gmt":"2013-06-25T12:39:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.crescentcityjewishnews.com\/?p=7824"},"modified":"2013-06-25T06:39:00","modified_gmt":"2013-06-25T12:39:00","slug":"retaliating-for-rocket-attacks-israel-slams-gaza-terror-sites","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.crescentcityjewishnews.com\/blog\/retaliating-for-rocket-attacks-israel-slams-gaza-terror-sites\/","title":{"rendered":"Retaliating for rocket attacks, Israel slams Gaza terror sites"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>JERUSALEM (JTA) &#8212; Israeli airstrikes hit terrorist targets in the Gaza Strip in response to rocket attacks on southern Israel.<\/p>\n<p>Two weapons storage facilities in central Gaza and a rocket launch site in southern Gaza were struck Monday morning, the Israeli military said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier that morning, six rockets were launched at southern Israel. Two were intercepted by the Iron Dome missile defense system near Ashkelon and four others landed in open areas. No injuries or damage were reported.<\/p>\n<p>It is believed the rockets were not launched by Hamas but instead by terrorist groups, such as Islamic Jihad, who are challenging Hamas&#8217; rule.<\/p>\n<p>Hamas reportedly has been working to keep the border with Israel calm in observance of the Egypt-brokered cease-fire following last year\u2019s Operation Pillar of Defense.<\/p>\n<p>Still, a spokesman for the Israel Defense Forces, Lt. Col.
