{"id":7853,"date":"2013-06-26T07:25:58","date_gmt":"2013-06-26T13:25:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.crescentcityjewishnews.com\/?p=7853"},"modified":"2013-06-28T18:34:24","modified_gmt":"2013-06-29T00:34:24","slug":"foreign-ministry-strike-forces-israeli-embassies-to-halt-services","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.crescentcityjewishnews.com\/blog\/foreign-ministry-strike-forces-israeli-embassies-to-halt-services\/","title":{"rendered":"Foreign Ministry strike forces Israeli embassies to halt services"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>JERUSALEM (JTA) &#8212; A strike by Israeli Foreign Ministry employees has caused a halt to consular services at Israeli embassies and consulates in the United States and around the world.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Due to a strike of The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, until further notice, NO CONSULAR SERVICES WILL BE PROVIDED,&#8221; read a statement posted Sunday on the website of the consulate in New York.<\/p>\n<p>Employees at the diplomatic missions will make exceptions for medical emergencies, adoptions and transporting bodies for burial.<\/p>\n<p>Services for Israelis living abroad that have stopped being offered include for passports and visa, reports of Israeli births abroad and issues dealing with the Israel Defense Forces.<\/p>\n<p>The halt in consular services is the latest salvo in a 3-month-old labor dispute.<\/p>\n<p>Last week, Israeli diplomats abroad stopped preparing for visits to Israel by foreign leaders.
