{"id":8193,"date":"2013-07-17T02:49:09","date_gmt":"2013-07-17T08:49:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.crescentcityjewishnews.com\/?p=8193"},"modified":"2013-07-17T02:49:09","modified_gmt":"2013-07-17T08:49:09","slug":"palestinian-man-convicted-in-stabbing-murder-of-eviatar-borovsky","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.crescentcityjewishnews.com\/blog\/palestinian-man-convicted-in-stabbing-murder-of-eviatar-borovsky\/","title":{"rendered":"Palestinian man convicted in stabbing murder of Eviatar Borovsky"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>JERUSALEM (JTA) &#8212; An Israeli military court convicted a West Bank Palestinian man for the April murder of Eviatar Borovsky, a West Bank father of five.<\/p>\n<p>The Samaria Military Court on Sunday convicted Salam Zagal of Tulkarem on Sunday for the killing of Borovsky of the Itamar settlement.<\/p>\n<p>Zagal stabbed Borovsky, 31, to death as Borovsky waited at a bus stop at the Tapuach Junction. Border Police officers shot Zagal at the scene of the attack.<\/p>\n<p>Zagal had been released eight months earlier from an Israeli jail after serving three years for rock throwing.<\/p>\n<p>Borovsky&#8217;s widow, Sophia, called for the death penalty following the conviction.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The proper sentence for a heinous murderer is death,\u201d she said. \u201cThat is the only proper sentence for a deed such as this.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The widow continued, &#8220;I wish this base murderer a death of torment, but it is really useless to put him in jail, when one takes into account that he will be released in one (prisoner) swap or another, and will use his time there for academic studies free of charge, and the high standard of living that the state of Israel gives the murderers of its citizens.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Zagal\u2019s brother is jailed in the Palestinian Authority for collaborating with Israel.
