Martha met and married her husband, Jack Sands. They were married for 58 years until his death in 2016.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to raising a family, she worked alongside her husband in their many business pursuits including Tavern on the Park Restaurant. In her later years she thoroughly enjoyed a second career with Gulf Coast Bank.<\/p>\n<p>She was a lifelong member of Hadassah, the National Council of Jewish Women and a long-time volunteer at WYES-TV. She was a proud member of Sigma Delta Tau Sorority and served as the president of the Panhellenic Council at Tulane University.<\/p>\n<p>Sands was an avid supporter of Tulane athletics and also&nbsp; loved her weekly mahjong games with friends.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>She is survived by her children Alan Sands, Marc Sands (EllenAnn) and Lee Sands (Jennifer); four grandchildren and one great granddaughter.<\/p>\n<p>A graveside service for immediate family only will be held on Monday, December 2, 2024, at Anshe Sfard Cemetery.
