(JTA) — Two Jewish teens from London were victims of an acid attack in Zanzibar, in eastern Africa.<\/p>\n

Two men on a moped threw acid at the girls Wednesday night as they walked in the island nation’s capital of Stone Town.<\/p>\n

Katie Gee and Kristen Trup, both 18, were in their last week of a volunteering trip organized by the company i-to-i. The teenagers volunteered as teachers.<\/p>\n

They were discharged from a hospital in Dar es Salaam in Tanzania Thursday morning after suffering non-life-threatening injuries to their hands, chests and faces. No motive for the attack has been established, although Zanzibar police have launched a manhunt.<\/p>\n

The girls, both members of the Federation for Zionist Youth, are trying to get home to London.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe’re trying to get them back as soon as possible. We’re trying to organize a medivac flight,\u201d Marc Trup, father of Kristen, told the Jewish Chronicle.<\/p>\n
