(Photo Credit: IDF)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Mohammad Sabaneh, the commander of Hamas\u2019s Rafah Brigade, and Mahdi Quara, the commander of Hamas\u2019s South Khan Yunis Battalion, were also eliminated in the strike, according to the military.<\/p>\n<p>Sabaneh was \u201cone of the planners and executors of the brutal Oct. 7 massacre and oversaw the captivity of many hostages in southern Gaza,\u201d while Quara led the terror group\u2019s Nukhba Force before being promoted to commander of the South Khan Yunis Battalion, the IDF said.<\/p>\n<p>Multiple air force jets were involved in the strike on the European Hospital in Al-Fukhari, a town in the Khan Yunis area, employing bunker-busting munitions to penetrate the Hamas compound beneath the facility.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs part of the preparations for the strike, extensive intelligence measures were taken to enable a precise strike that would mitigate civilian harm to the greatest extent possible,\u201d the military stated on Saturday. \u201cThe hospital\u2019s functioning was not affected by the strike,\u201d it added.<\/p>\n<p>The IDF statement noted that Sinwar was \u201camong the most senior and long-serving members of Hamas\u2019s military wing and played a significant role in planning and executing the brutal Oct. 7 massacre,\u201d referring to the Hamas-led invasion of southern Israel on Oct. 7, 2023.<\/p>\n<p>Following the July 13 elimination of Mohammed Deif, Mohammad Sinwar\u2019s brother Yahya Sinwar appointed him as Deif\u2019s successor, making him a central decision-maker regarding Hamas\u2019s strategy and policy, and driving efforts to rebuild its military capabilities, according to the IDF.&lt;<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter that Sinwar was eliminated in the May 13 Gaza airstrike.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe took out&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jns.org\/hamas-confirms-july-13-death-of-terror-mastermind-mohammed-deif\/\">Deif<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jns.org\/terrorist-mastermind-meets-his-fate-in-tehran\/\">Haniyeh<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jns.org\/idf-probing-if-hamas-terror-chief-sinwar-killed-in-gaza\/\">Yahya Sinwar<\/a>&nbsp;and Mohammed Sinwar,\u201d&nbsp;the prime minister said during a so-called 40-signature debate, which the opposition can call once a month and which the premier is obliged to attend.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThroughout Israel\u2019s wars, there have never been so many achievements on so many fronts,\u201d Netanyahu said, adding: \u201cWe changed the face of the Middle East and established Israel\u2019s status as a regional power.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On May 18, Israeli Defense Minister&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jns.org\/katz-all-indications-point-to-mohammed-sinwars-death\/\">Israel Katz<\/a>&nbsp;told&nbsp;lawmakers of the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee that \u201call the terrorist organization in the Gaza Strip, who was eliminated by Israeli ground forces on Oct. 16, 2024.
