Credit: FBI.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The&nbsp;<em>Post<\/em>&nbsp;said that it translated writings in the Cyrillic alphabet by the shooter, 32, who was transgender. \u201cIf I will carry out a racially motivated attack, it would be most likely against filthy Zionist jews,\u201d the shooter reportedly wrote in a journal that the paper said was \u201cfull of antisemitic slurs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Westman also wrote of assassinating U.S. President Donald Trump, the&nbsp;<em>Post<\/em>&nbsp;reported. Minneapolis police&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.minneapolismn.gov\/news\/2025\/august\/active-situation-august-27\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">stated<\/a>&nbsp;that of 17 people injured, 14 are children. Two are in critical condition, police said.<\/p>\n<p>Police said that the shooting took place \u201cduring a morning mass service to mark the beginning of the school year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Anti-Defamation League stated that its preliminary research \u201cconfirmed that writings on the guns used by the shooter\u201d in the attack \u201cinclude antisemitic and anti-Israel references.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Those included \u201cpraise for mass killers across the ideological spectrum, including white supremacist, anti-Muslim and anti-government extremists\u201d and \u201cother school shooters,\u201d the ADL said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am heartbroken to learn of the horrific mass shooting, a Minnesota Catholic school that has left two children dead and 17 others injured,\u201d stated Rep. Seth Magaziner (D-R.I.), ranking member of the House Homeland Security Subcommittee on Counterterrorism, Intelligence and Law Enforcement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is not normal or inevitable,\u201d added Magaziner, who is Jewish. \u201cWe have the power and the responsibility to prevent horrific acts of violence like this from happening.
