Each week, I\u2019ll share 3 meaningful ideas, 2 thought-provoking quotes, and 1 reflective question.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"paragraph\" style=\"text-align:left;\">There\u2019s a part of you that remains steady through every season of life; deeper than your thoughts, your emotions, or even your body.<br>This week\u2019s message is about the soul: the you beneath it all.<\/p><p class=\"paragraph\" style=\"text-align:left;\">\u2728<b>3 Ideas<\/b><\/p><ol start=\"1\"><li><p class=\"paragraph\" style=\"text-align:left;\"><b>You don\u2019t have a soul. You are a soul<\/b><\/p><\/li><\/ol><p class=\"paragraph\" style=\"text-align:left;\">Many people define themselves by their body \u2014 their reflection in the mirror,\u00a0and how others perceive them. Others go deeper, identifying with their thoughts or even with their personality. But your soul isn\u2019t any of these. It\u2019s the deeper \u201cyou,\u201d your transcendent essence.<\/p><p class=\"paragraph\" style=\"text-align:left;\">Classical wisdom teaches that we are a synthesis of body and soul, physical and spiritual. The body walks us through the world \u2026 but the soul is who we are.<\/p><ol start=\"2\"><li><p class=\"paragraph\" style=\"text-align:left;\"><b>Some truths resonate because they&#39;ve always been part of us<\/b><\/p><\/li><\/ol><p class=\"paragraph\" style=\"text-align:left;\">Have you ever just known that something was right or wrong without knowing how?<\/p><p class=\"paragraph\" style=\"text-align:left;\">Before we learn words, something within us recognizes what is virtuous and ethical. A <a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2010\/05\/09\/magazine\/09babies-t.html?utm_source=spiritualsparks.beehiiv.com&utm_medium=newsletter&utm_campaign=spiritual-sparks-the-soul-is-your-essence\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Yale study<\/a>* found that babies, even months old, instinctively favor helpfulness and recoil from harm.\u00a0 Before language or instruction, they reveal an inner moral compass.\u00a0<\/p><p class=\"paragraph\" style=\"text-align:left;\">We don\u2019t begin life as a blank slate, a <i>tabula rasa<\/i>. These truths aren\u2019t learned from scratch; they\u2019re embedded within us, taught to and remembered by the soul.<\/p><ol start=\"3\"><li><p class=\"paragraph\" style=\"text-align:left;\"><b>The soul longs for meaning more than comfort<\/b><\/p><\/li><\/ol><p class=\"paragraph\" style=\"text-align:left;\">Some of the most meaningful jobs in the world, such as caregiving, special education, and nursing, often come with modest pay. And yet, people pursue them. Many individuals volunteer time and resources, forgoing ease, comfort, and momentary pleasure. Why? <\/p><p class=\"paragraph\" style=\"text-align:left;\">Comfort may soothe the body, but the soul is nourished by purpose. It doesn\u2019t need to be convinced to care; it simply needs the space to do so.\u00a0<\/p><p class=\"paragraph\" style=\"text-align:left;\"> The world contains two types of people: givers and takers.
