(Photo by Ibrahim Amro\/AFP via Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The afternoon military operation against the No. 2 leader in the terrorist organization\u2014which was dubbed \u201cBlack Friday\u201d\u2014was the first Israeli strike on Beirut since July.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA short while ago, the IDF struck in the heart of Beirut the Hezbollah chief of staff, who led the terrorist organization\u2019s military buildup and armament,\u201d the Prime Minister\u2019s Office said.<\/p>\n<p>The target was identified by Hebrew media as Haytham \u2018Ali Tabataba\u2019i, Hezbollah\u2019s No. 2 after Secretary-General Naim Qassem.<\/p>\n<p>Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu \u201cordered the strike on the recommendation of the defense minister and the IDF chief of staff,\u201d noted the statement from the premier\u2019s office.
