Credit: IDF.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of the fallen soldiers was named as Sgt. 1st Class Maher Khatar, from the Golan Heights Druze village of Majdal Shams. He served as a combat engineering heavy equipment operator, the military stated.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to Israel\u2019s&nbsp;<em>Ynet<\/em>&nbsp;outlet, the two soldiers were killed by mortar fire or an anti-tank missile during defensive operations at a military position in Southern Lebanon, when a combat engineering force that included two D9 bulldozers went to extract a Puma armored personnel carrier that had become stuck.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the rescue operation, one of the D9 bulldozers was reportedly hit, possibly by a mortar that struck a fuel tank or by a missile, resulting in the deaths of the two soldiers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIn the incident in which Sgt. 1st Class Maher Khatar, of blessed memory, fell, another soldier also fell,\u201d the army said. \u201cHis name has not yet been cleared for publication and will be published at a later time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition, a combat officer who sustained light wounds was evacuated for medical treatment in Israel. His family was informed, the IDF added.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.idf.il\/%d7%90%d7%aa%d7%a8%d7%99-%d7%99%d7%97%d7%99%d7%93%d7%95%d7%aa\/%d7%99%d7%95%d7%9e%d7%9f-%d7%94%d7%9e%d7%9c%d7%97%d7%9e%d7%94\/%d7%97%d7%9c%d7%9c%d7%99-%d7%95%d7%a4%d7%a6%d7%95%d7%a2%d7%99-%d7%a6%d7%94-%d7%9c-%d7%91%d7%9e%d7%9c%d7%97%d7%9e%d7%94\/\">death toll<\/a>&nbsp;among Israeli troops since Hamas\u2019s Oct. 7, 2023, cross-border terrorist massacre now stands at 926, according to IDF figures.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz told Beirut on Saturday to act swiftly against Hezbollah or else \u201cLebanon as a whole will pay the full price.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Addressing Lebanese President Joseph Aoun directly during a situational assessment at the Kirya military headquarters in Tel Aviv, Katz said, \u201cLebanon is not the United Nations. You [and Lebanon] committed to implementing the [ceasefire] agreement and disarming Hezbollah, and that is not happening.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He continued, \u201cWe will not allow harm to our communities, we will not allow harm to our soldiers, and if the two stand against one another, the Lebanese government and Lebanon as a whole will pay the full price.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Katz warned that as things stand, Beirut is forcing Israel to ensure the safety of its own citizens and soldiers at the expense of the Lebanese Republic.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe have no territorial claims against Lebanon, but we will not be prepared for Lebanese territory to once again become what it was for many years\u2014a base for firing at the State of Israel. We will not allow a return to that situation. Therefore we are addressing and warning: Act, and take action before we do even more,\u201d the defense minister said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If slain Hezbollah chief&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jns.org\/the-nasrallah-strike-how-the-iaf-secretly-prepared-and-kept-crews-in-dark\/\">Hassan Nasrallah<\/a>&nbsp;\u201cdestroyed Lebanon, then [his successor],&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jns.org\/qassem-hezbollah-will-fight-israel-and-us-until-the-ultimate-sacrifice\/\">Naim Qassem<\/a>, will also ruin it by continuing down this path,\u201d Katz added.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Katz\u2019s message was delivered in a recording from a meeting in the command bunker at the Kirya together with Israel Defense Forces Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir and Military Intelligence chief Maj. Gen. Shlomi Binder, alongside other senior IDF commanders.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The IDF in an overnight strike on Saturday attacked \u201ckey commanders\u201d of Iran\u2019s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps\u2019 Quds Force in Beirut, the military announced.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Quds Force\u2019s Lebanon Corps \u201coperated to advance terror attacks against the state of Israel and its civilians, while operating simultaneously for the IRGC in Iran,\u201d it stated.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Lebanon Corps served as a liaison axis between the Iranian-backed Hezbollah terror group and the Iranian regime and operated as a body supporting its force buildup, the Israeli military statement added.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe IDF will not allow the Iranian terror regime elements to establish themselves in Lebanon and will continue to precisely eliminate the commanders of the Iranian terror regime wherever they operate,\u201d concluded the statement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meanwhile, two soldiers of the army\u2019s Givati Brigade were moderately wounded by terrorist anti-tank fire during a \u201cdefensive activity in Southern Lebanon on Friday, the IDF said over the weekend.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The troops of the brigade\u2019s Rotem Battalion (435th), identified only as \u201cM.\u201d and N.\u201d by the military, were evacuated to Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center\u2019s Ichilov Hospital for treatment, it added.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Earlier on Friday, eight soldiers sustained injuries, including five who were seriously wounded, in a Hezbollah rocket attack targeting an IDF military position near the northern border.
