(Photo credit: Daniel Torok\/White House)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The military used \u201cland- and sea-based fighter aircraft, drones and naval vessels,\u201d and it targeted \u201cIranian missile and drone sites, naval capabilities, ammunition storage facilities, communication networks and coastal surveillance locations,\u201d said CENTCOM.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA civilian crew member is missing, and the vessel is unable to continue the journey due to an onboard fire and significant engine room damage,\u201d the U.S. military stated. \u201cIran was provided yet another opportunity to demonstrate adherence to the memorandum of understanding after being held accountable for earlier attacks on commercial vessels but has again failed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. military is responding by \u201cimposing a heavy cost by continuing to degrade Iran\u2019s ability to attack civilian mariners and commercial ships freely transiting the strait,\u201d according to CENTCOM.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese strikes are welcome, but they are being carried out to \u2018degrade\u2019 Iran\u2019s regime\u2019s ability to threaten commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz,\u201d stated Jason Brodsky, policy director at United Against Nuclear Iran. \u201cHowever, if the U.S. wants to deter the regime, there will need to be a more robust response.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIran made a poor choice,\u201d U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth stated. \u201cNow they pay.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Earlier in the day, the Iranian regime declared the strait to be closed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Strait of Hormuz is closed until further notice and until the end of America\u2019s interventions in the region, and no vessel will be permitted to pass through,\u201d said the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).<\/p>\n<p>The IRGC warned that any \u201cnew act of aggression\u201d against Iran would be met with a \u201csevere response\u201d and that additional \u201cenemy bases\u201d in the region would be targeted.<\/p>\n<p>Following the latest round of U.S. airstrikes, the IRGC said it had launched attacks on American military assets in Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain and Jordan.<\/p>\n<p>According to the IRGC-affiliated&nbsp;<i>Fars News Agency<\/i>, the missile and drone attacks targeted military facilities in Qatar; a Patriot air-defense system, an ammunition depot and a radar site in Kuwait, refueling platforms used by aircraft carriers at the Port of Duqm in Oman, a military communications facility and a radar site in Bahrain, and a command center and MQ-9 drone hangars at Jordan\u2019s Prince Hassan Air Base.<\/p>\n<p>Qatar\u2019s Defense Ministry said its air defenses had intercepted \u201ca number of ballistic missile attacks\u201d targeting the country.<\/p>\n<p>Kuwait\u2019s Armed Forces also said their air defense systems had engaged \u201chostile aerial targets\u201d that entered the country\u2019s airspace.<\/p>\n<p>Bahrain\u2019s Interior Ministry on Sunday issued several emergency warnings, urging citizens and residents to \u201cremain calm, head to the nearest safe location and follow updates through official channels.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Authorities in Oman and Jordan did not immediately confirm Iran\u2019s claim that it had launched attacks on targets inside their territories.<\/p>\n<div style=\"padding-bottom:20px;
