{"id":96027,"date":"2026-10-07T15:15:04","date_gmt":"2026-10-07T20:15:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.crescentcityjewishnews.com\/blog\/?p=96027"},"modified":"2026-10-07T15:15:04","modified_gmt":"2026-10-07T20:15:04","slug":"paris-names-park-path-for-slain-bibas-children","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.crescentcityjewishnews.com\/blog\/paris-names-park-path-for-slain-bibas-children\/","title":{"rendered":"Paris names park path for slain Bibas children"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By CANAAN LIDOR and AMELIE BOTBOL<\/p>\n<p>(<em>JNS.org<\/em>) \u2013&nbsp;Paris Mayor Emmanuel Gr\u00e9goire on Tuesday inaugurated a memorial pathway named for Ariel and Kfir Bibas, two children who, along with their mother, Shiri, were murdered by Hamas terrorists after being abducted from Kibbutz Nir Oz on Oct. 7, 2023.<\/p>\n<p>The mother and her two boys, aged 4 and nine months at the time of their abduction, were \u201ccowardly murdered by terrorists in what is the deadliest pogrom in recent history,\u201d Gr\u00e9goire said at the ceremony, alongside Yonathan Arfi, president of the Representative Council of Jewish Institutions of France (CRIF), and others, <i>Le Parisien<\/i> reported.<\/p>\n<p>The plaque marking the Ariel and Kfir Bibas Pathway also mentions Shiri and describes the three as \u201cvictims of Islamist terrorism and antisemitic hatred.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Paris City Council observed a minute of silence on Tuesday at a separate ceremony ahead of the third anniversary of the Hamas massacre.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe violated innocence of Ariel and Kfir Bibas has become a symbol of the antisemitic hatred of the mass attacks perpetrated on Oct. 7, 2023,\u201d read a resolution unanimously adopted by the council.<\/p>\n<p>The pathway named for Ariel and Kfir is in Parc Monceau, which the city describes on its website as \u201cone of the most beautiful gardens in Paris\u201d and a \u201cparticularly peaceful\u201d corner of the city.<\/p>\n<p>Yarden Bibas, Shiri\u2019s husband and the father of the two boys, attended the inauguration and recalled the last time he saw his family alive.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI asked you: Do we fight or do we surrender? You said we fight, so we fought. I\u2019m sorry I couldn\u2019t protect you. If I\u2019d have known what would happen, I never would\u2019ve fired,\u201d he said, referring to his decision to open fire with his sidearm on terrorists who invaded the family\u2019s home.<\/p>\n<p>Yarden Bibas was wounded, captured and taken to Gaza, where he was held hostage until his release.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe won\u2019t forget and we won\u2019t forgive,\u201d Jimmy Miller, Shiri Bibas\u2019s cousin, told JNS. \u201cThe fire may have died out long ago, but the light of Ariel and Kfir will continue to burn forever.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For Miller and his family, as well as the country as a whole, Oct. 7 is a day of mourning.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnyone who does not feel this way is disconnected from reality. What happened in Israel on Oct. 7 was the worst tragedy to befall the Jewish people since the Holocaust, and that day must never be forgotten,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe grief for my family is immense. The wounds will remain open.
