Cantor Garfein organizing tonight’s Community MLK Shabbat
Temple Sinai Cantor Rebecca Garfein is presiding over a special musical event tonight at the Reform temple’s weekly Shabbat service, a Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemoration Shabbat.

The service begins at Temple Sinai, 6227 St. Charles Avenue, at 6:15 p.m. tonight. In addition to Cantor Garfein and Rabbi Daniel Sherman, the service will fdeature members of the New Orleans Klezmer All-Stars, the Panorama Jazz Band, the Loyola Gospel Choir, the Spirit of New Orleans Gospel Singers and New Voices New Orleans, a newly formed children’s choir from the New Orleans area public schools.
A late addition just announced today is an appearance from the Visionquest Praise Team for Dillard University.
They will be joined by the Reverend Herbert Brisbon, the chaplain from Dillard University, who will be delivering a special address. Brisbon also serves as the director of the National Center for Black-Jewish Relations, which is based at Dillard.
