Time was when practically every synagogue in the New Orleans area had a Judaica gift shop. And then there was one.
That one is located at Congregation Gates of Prayer, 4000 West Esplanade Avenue, where on Sunday, Oct. 13, the congregation’s Sisterhood will hold a clearance sale to make room for new items in the New Year.
From 9:00 a.m. to noon, volunteers will offer a wide range of Judaica, including jewelry, mezuzot, dreidels, books and assorted gift items for children and the home. These items will be reduced by as much as 75% off original prices.
“We literally have something for everyone,” said Janet Krane, who chairs Sisterhood’s Gift Shop Committee. “We hope everyone will stop by to help us clear our shelves.” Krane suggested items would make ideal gifts for babies, b’nai mitzvah celebrants or for home.
Proceeds from the sale will benefit synagogue programs and projects as well as the Jewish community and the Greater New Orleans community at large.
