Chabad-Lubavitch of Louisiana has announced the date and time of the celebration that had been one of the largest attended Jewish community events, Chanukah at the Riverwalk.
Due to ongoing construction last year, the event had a smaller turnout than in previous years due to its being held in the far recesses of the shopping mall. It is expected to be back front and center in the Spanish Plaza area, where it had been held for most recent years.
The event is slated to begin at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 2 with the large wooden Chanukiah to be lit after 5:00 p.m. The Chanukiah was constructed by Isak Borenstein of blessed memory, a Holocaust survivor who also constructed the memorial menorah used each year at the Jewish Community Center for the Yom Hashoah Community Wide Event.
