As expected, Tropical Storm Cristobal made landfall in Lafourche Parish early Sunday evening, bringing with it several bands of heavy rain along the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
By midnight, the forward speed of the storm had slowed to 7 mph as it moved north by northwest. Most of the New Orleans area was spared the heaviest of the showers initially, although the back end of Cristobal is expected to bring heavy rain bands into city around 2:00 a.m., which will continue until 5:00 a.m.
The greatest risk of street flooding should be between 6:30 and 8:00 a.m., according to weather forecasters.
