Former registered nurse Anita Lambert Watsky graveside service is held
ANITA LAMBERT WATSKY, a dedicated registered nurse, died on Sunday, March 22. She was 82.
A native of Reserve, LA., she graduated from the Hotel Dieu School of Nursing before beginning a career at Charity Hospital and various medical offices in New Orleans and in Metairie.
An avid reader and devoted book collector, she had a deep love for dogs, particularly devoted to the Schipperkes breed of small dogs that hailed from Flanders. She ran a dog-training service as a result.
Watsky enjoyed traveling abroad and explored China, France, Germany, Egypt, Holland, Thailand, Turkey and Switzerland, to name but a few countries she toured.
She was married for 30 years to her huband Dan Watsky until the time of his passing in 2010.
She is survived by her daughter Joelle Halpern (Edward), her sister, Brenda Zimmerman (Bill); and two grandchildren.
A graveside service was held on Thursday, March 27, at Hebrew Rest Cemetery No. 3, 2101 Pelopidas Street at 11:00 a.m. Rabbi David Gerber officiated.
Mourners were requested not to wear black, but instead to wear her favorite color, red, at the graveside service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are requested to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in honor of former GNO Chapter President, Dan Watsky.
