Former teacher Dorothy ‘Dot’ Goldman Levin services to be held on Sunday
Dorothy “Dot” Goldman Levin, a dedicated teacher for many decades, passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2025. She was 97.
A New Orleans native, she graduated from Isidore Newman School and Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. After graduation from college, she returned to her hometown and became the first teacher/director of the Jewish Community Center Nursery School when it opened in 1949. She taught there again in the early 1960’s, and, subsequently, at Children’s Place and Communal Nursery School.
She also was a teacher for 23 years at Temple Sinai Religious School.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Stanley H. Levin and is survived by her son Richard B. Levin (Suzette), her daughter Dorothy Gee “DeeGee” Liniado (Robert) and three grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend livestreamed funeral services held at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. on Sunday, May 4, 2025 at 11:00 a.m.
Visitation will be from 10:00am until the time of the funeral service conducted by Congregation Gates of Prayer Senior Rabbi David Gerber. A graveside service will follow at Dispersed of Judah Cemetery on Canal St.
