Latkes with a Twist event at NOCCA again

The sixth annual “Latkes with a Twist” Chanukah event presented by Jewish Children’s Regional Service (JCRS) will be held in a familiar setting at the New Orleans Center for the Creative Art’s (NOCCA) Press Street Station in the  on Thursday, December 12.

Located at 5 Homer Plessy Way, Press Street Station is utilized by NOCCA for part of its culinary program with a massive professional kitchen in the historic neighborhood of Faubourg Marigny.

Chef Frank Brigtsen, the owner of Brigtsen’s and a former executive chef at Commander’s Palace, will be featured as the “latke master” assisted by the NOCCA culinary program students. 

“My mother, of Scandinavian-German descent, made delish potato pancakes with a special sauce I plan to recreate. I’m excited about this event,” Brigtsen said.

Sazerac Brands will be providing special cocktail options including a Vodka Latke Punch and a Buffalo Trace Old Fashion Hanukkah Hiball. Wine and beer options will also be available.

A silent auction will also bring in funds for JCRS’ many programs, which include summer camp scholarship, Chanukah gifts for the needy, college scholarships and financial assistance for Jewish families across seven states.
