Louis Moreau Society to present ‘8 Songs for a Mad King’ Monday night

The Louis Moreau Society, a group that annually presents new performers and new classical music, holds the first of its concert offerings tomorrow night,  March 9, 2020, when they present “Eight Songs for a Mad King” by Sir Peter Maxwell Davies at 730 p.m. at the Marigny Opera House, 725 St. Ferninand St.

“Eight Songs for a Mad King” features a libretto by Randolph Stow.

The performance will feature the “Louies,” a group of new classical students who are just embarking on their classical music careers.

They will be joined on stage by New York-based bass-baritone and New Orleans native Jonathan Z. Harris.

Adult tickets will be available at the door for $20.00 with $10.00 tickets for students.

The second concert in the series will be held on Thursday, March 12 at 7:30 p.m. and is free to the public. Titled “Contemporary Masters and Promising Voices,” it will be held at the Dixon Recital Hall of Tulane University.
