National WWII Museum lists D-Day activities today
The National World War II Museum, originally founded as the National D-Day Museum, will be holding virtual and in-person events throughout the day.
Activities recalling the 77th anniversary of the historic landing on the beaches of Normandy and the 21st anniversary of the founding of the museum will commence at 9:00 a.m. when the museum opens its doors.
Scarf giveaways for veterans from the Knit Your Bit collective, an association of over 10,000 knitters and crocheters in all 50 states will continue until 3:00 p.m.
The highlight of the day will be the Dr. Hal Baumgarten D-Day Commemoration held at the U.S. Freedom Center: The Boeing Center at 11:00 a.m. For those who cannot attend in person, the event will be rebroadcast over the museum’s Facebook page and Vimeo.
