Retailer of Maternity and Baby Lane, Isabel Levey, to be laid to rest Sunday afternoon

ISABEL BRANDT LEVEY, the owner and manager of Maternity and Baby Lane, a retail establishment for infant and children’s wear, died Thursday, March 19, 2021, in Memphis, where she had lived for the past 15 years following Hurricane Katrina.  She was 88

Born in Jennings, LA., she moved t New Orleans when she was 15. Prior to her involvement in retail, she was the executive secretary for the president of the Loew’s State Theater on Canal Street. Oftentimes, she would step into the ticket booth to dispense tickets when needed. Eventually, she partnered with her sister in Vivian Woodard, a women’s makeup store before opening her retail store.

She was a sports fanatic, especially for her beloved Saints. Her home and wardrobe ensemble were often accented with the Saints colors. 

She is survived by her husband of many years Julian Levey, her daughters Rhonda Ginsburg (Alex) and Renee’ Glazer (Steven), her sister Paul Pulitzer (Simon), a granddaughter and a great-granddaughter. 

Graveside services will be held Sunday, March 21, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. in Anshe Sfard Cemetery, 4400 Elysian Fields Avenue.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Levey’s memory may be sent to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memphis, TN or your favorite charity.

Lake Lawn Metairie Cemetery is in charge of arrangements.
