SANDRA COTLAR KANTER, a homemaker, mother and community volunteer, passed away in the early morning hours of Friday, January 3, at her residence. She was 85.
A native New Orleanian, she was a longtime member of Congregation Beth Israel and involved as a volunteer with Beth Israel’s Sisterhood. Kanter was also a lifetime member of Hadassah.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Joseph Jerome Kanter; her daughters Cathy Kanter (Morris, III) Bart, Wendy Kanter (David) Rones and Judith Kanter (Glenn Lieberman); her brother Dr. Alvin Cotlar (Dr. Ginger Rogers); and eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at Congregation Gates of Prayer, 4000 West Esplanade Avenue South in Metairie, on Monday, January 6 at 11:30 a.m. Congregation Beth Israel Rabbi Josh Pernick officiated. Interment will followed at the (Old) Beth Israel Cemetery, 4321 Frenchman St.
