Super Sunday set for Feb. 17

Super Sunday, the day set aside for fundraising from the local community to the Jewish Federation of Greater New Orleans’s Annual Campaign, takes place this Sunday, February 17. Beginning at 9:00 a.m. volunteers will join forces making telephone calls that seek pledges from local Jewish residents. The calls will take place until mid-afternoon and will emanate from the Goldring-Woldenberg Jewish Community Campus in Metairie. Super Sunday is the annual phonathon to benefit the 2019 Jewish Federation Annual Campaign.

Upwards of 100 volunteers are being solicited to take at least a two-hour shift.

Members of Federation are urged to pay their  2019 Annual Campaign pledge in advance. Here is the link to make a donation.

Among the many items cited by Federation from the funds secured at last year’s Super Sunday are support of the Jewish Community Day School, which added a sixth grade class and tripled enrolled last year, and the fulfillment of more than 1,100 meals served to seniors at the Jewish Community Center.

Among the many programs they distribute funds to are those of Jewish Family Service’s Homemaker Program and Tulane Hillel as well as sending funds in support of the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee, who delivered food, medicine and heating supplies to elderly Jews living in the former Soviet Union. Federation also supports aliyah to Israel through the Jewish Agency for Israel.

Federation gifts are matched an additional 25% through the Goldring Family and Woldenberg Foundations.
