Pearl Sackett rites set for Friday morning

PEARL FELDSTEIN SACKETT, a long time resident of New Orleans, passed peacefully in her home on the morning of June 6, 2018. She was 91.

PEARL SACKETT

Sackett, who was a native of Chicago, earned a degree from Northwestern University before embarking on a life of excitement that eventually took her to New Orleans. In her early years, she was a TV model and spokesperson as well as a world-class bridge player. She particularly enjoyed traveling. “Miss Pearl,” as she was known to many, was easily recognized by the wide-brimmed hats she wore when traveling and the trademarked spiked heel shoes she wore, regardless of the terrain.

She made friends easily, regardless of age, and was admired for her ever-present smile and her innate sense of style. These were key ingredients that endeared her to all whom she met.

Predeceased by her husband of many years, Mark W. Sackett, in 1999, she is survived by her two sons, Michael and Richard; three granddaughters and two great-granddaughters.

A graveside service was conducted at Hebrew Rest #3, 4100 Frenchmen, on Friday, June 8, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. Rabbi Deborah Silver officiated. Memorial donations are suggested to Shir Chadash Conservative Congregation, 3737 W.Esplanade Avenue, Metairie. Arrangements were by Tharp-Sontheimer-Tharp Funeral Home, 1600 N. Causeway Blvd. Condolences may be expressed online at www.tharpsontheimerfh.com. Information 504-835-2341.
