Dr. Peter Glaser, successful dentist, is laid to rest today

PETER LEON GLASER, a native New Orleanian who created one of the largest dental practices in the state of Louisiana, died on Thursday, September 3. He was 86.

A child of immigrants who escaped from the Nazis, Glaser grew up in their adopted city eventually attending Warren Easton High School before graduating and matriculating to college at Tulane University. He attended  LSU Dental School, where he earned his Dental Degree in 1963.

Glaser then enlisted in the United States Navy as a dentist, serving aboard an aircraft carrier stationed in the Canary Islands. When his service concluded, he returned to New Orleans, opening a solo dental practice in a small building in Boutte, Louisiana. Eventually, he enlarged his practice to include several locations. Dr. Glaser was also a former president of the New Orleans Dental Association.

His generosity knew no bounds, especially with his friends and family and their extended family and friends. He was as active as he was generous. He could be found daily at the gym and managed some way to move his body every single day. He loved to ski especially in Telluride, Colorado, and was never happier than when he got to ski with his grandchildren. He never turned down an invitation to a party or any opportunity to have a good time.

Glaser is survived by his ex-wife, Jere; his three children, Todd, Laurie, and Allison; and his two grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Dr. Charles Glaser, O.D. (Cathy). 

Funeral services were held today, Sunday, September 6, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in the Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home chapel, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. Rabbi David Gerber officiated
