Watercolorist, homemaker Jan Spizer Seltzer rites set for Thursday

JAN SPIZER SELTZER, a homemaker and watercolorist who found joy in creating passed away following an extended illness. She was 77 but only shy of her birthday by a few days. J

A New Orleans native and a lifelong resident, she graduated from Fortier High School, where she was a sweetheart of AZA. She attended Endicott College, where she studied Political Science.

She was a devoted wife, mother and sister and took great pride in raising her two daughters. A self-taught artist, she held several exhibits of her watercolors at the Jewish Community Center to grat fanfare. In addition to loving her art, she also enjoyed cooking, and reading, and had a warm, humorous spirit. She also enjoyed traveling and spending time with family.

She was a member of Temple Sinai congregation.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Donald Carl Leavitt in 2022. She is survived by her two siblings, Dale Spizer Aronson and David Bruce Spizer; her two children, Amy Seltzer Malish (Jedd) and Corinne Seltzer Skott (Mike) of Atlanta; and her three grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 17, at 10:00 a.m. in the banquet room at The Marseille Condominiums on Lake Marina Drive. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. The service will be officiated by Rabbi Daniel Sherman.
