Hebrew Rest Cemeteries to honor Jewish veterans on Nov. 9

As has been the tradition for several years, the Hebrew Rest Cemeteries board of commissioners have honored veterans interred in their three cemeteries by placing American flags on gravesites prior to the observance of Veterans Day.

This year, the date selected to place the flags is Sunday, November 9 at 10 a.m.

While the list of Jewish veterans is extensive, it may not be complete as it was mostly derived from plaques at both Temple Sinai and Touro Synagogue.

The board requests any family members or friends who know of a Jewish veteran who served whether during wartime or peace, to send information of their name and any additional information to the Hebrew Rest Cemeteries Association here. Forms are also available on the Hebrew Rest Cemeteries Association website.

Anyone who wishes to join in the placement of the flags is urged to meet at the Hebrew Rest Cemetery No. 3 gate near the mausoleum in the 2100 block of Pelopidas Street.
