Homemaker, former secretary Annette Gansar rites set for Sunday
ANNETTE SOLOMON GANSAR passed away from natural causes on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at her home in Metairie, Louisiana. She was 91.
Born in Houston, Texas,. Gansar was a graduate of San Jacinto High School in Houston, Texas and worked first there at the Foley Department Store before moving to New Orleans. In New Orleans she worked as an Avon Lady and the secretary at Offset Printing Company.
As a volunteer, she served as president of the Bridgedale Elementary School Coop Club, was a Den Mother for Den 10 of Cub Scout Troop 227 and was active in the Gates of Prayer Temple Sisterhood as well as the New Orleans chapter of B’nai B’rith.
Her passions included sewing, cooking, gardening, watching Judge Judy and caring for her dogs and birds.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, Herbert Gansar, in 2015. She is survived by her children Dr. Gary Fishel Gansar (Corinne), Debbie Gansar LaCombe (Robert), and Gregory Gansar, seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Boulevard, on Sunday, July 27, 2025. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. followed by services at 10:00. Interment will follow in Gates of Prayer Cemetery, 1428 Joseph Street at 11:30 a.m..
