John Morris Mintz service set for Wednesday, May 21

JOHN MORRIS MINTZ passed away peacefully on May 14, 2025, surrounded by family members and attending medical personnel at Oschsner Hospital. He was 69 years old.

Mintz was a man of academic pursuits,  attending Newman School, then matriculating to Carlton College, and later attended both Tulane University and Loyola University.

Mintz was an excellent writer who assisted his in the legal practice belonging to his father. He delighted in taking vocal lessons and also studied religion. He spoke both Spanish and Norwegian. His keen ear for dialects made him an interesting and humorous storyteller.

It was no secret he had a passion for rescuing dogs. He was truly dog’s best friend and during Katrina evacuated with five canine companions.

He is survived by his mother Linda Barnett Mintz and his sister Margaret Mintz Easthope (Thomas).

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial service at Temple Sinai’s Feibelman Chapel, 6227 St. Charles Avenue,  on Wednesday, May 21, 2025. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. The service will follow at 11:30 a.m. A reception will follow the services in the social hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to the New Orleans SPCA.
