Marc Cohen Levy, former Modern Flooring manager, to be celebrated on Friday

MARC COHEN LEVY, a former manager of Modern Flooring for 40 years, departed this life on August 16, 2024. He was 61.

A native of New Orleans, he attended Saint Paul’s Catholic School in Covington and graduated from Louisiana State University. After graduation, Marc began managing the family business of Modern Flooring and was was well loved by his employees and installers. He was well known for his ability to provide skilled craftsmen for large and small projects. He believed in supporting local businesses and took pride in working with the neighborhood.

Some years later, he built one of the first houses in Rosemary Beach, Florida, and was often called the “Mayor of Rosemary” by his fellow residents.

Levy was a supporter of Temple Sinai, the Free School, the University of New Orleans, Delgado Community College, SPCA, and the Eighth District Police Station. He enjoyed playing tennis at City Park, where he made quite a number of tennis buddies.

An avid baseball lover, he particularly enjoyed watching baseball games with UNO Baseball Coach Ron Maestri.

He enjoyed the simple things in life, especially spending time with family and friends over a good meal and also collected small etchings he would often show others.

Levy shared his daughter’s love of horses and spent many weekends traveling with her to competitions. He also enjoyed tending to his garden.

He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Hardie Koch Levy, his mother, Maline Levy, his stepfather, Ronald Berenger, his sister, Cari Anne Cohen Levy Bellendorf, his daughter, Sophie Koch Ashkouti (Brandon) and two grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Temple Sinai, 6330 St. Charles Avenue on Friday, August 23 from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.
