Ralph Seelig is laid to rest today
RALPH SEELIG, a successful distributor of arts and crafts, passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2024. He was 93.
A native of New Orleans, on April 26, 1931, he was a graduate of Isidore Newman School and then graduated from Tulane University with a B.B.A. degree.
Following his ROTC training, he entered the army as a 2nd Lieutenant and was stationed in Newport News, VA. After completing his military service, he returned to New Orleans to open a furniture store. That business eventually evolved into his distributorship which he transformed into a family business.
Seelig served on several industry boards during his career and enjoyed spending time traveling or with his grandchildren.
He was married for 69 years to the late Shirley Tanenbaum Seelig, who died in 2022.
He is survived by his three children Linda S. Greenbaum (Mark), Sam and Stanley Seelig, nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held today, Sunday, August 18, 2024 at 12:00 noon at Shir Chadash Synagogue, 3737 West Esplanade Avenue with visitation beginning at 11:30 AM. Rabbi David Cohen-Henriquez officiated. Interment followed in Tikvat Shalom Cemetery (in Jefferson Memorial Gardens), St. Rose, Louisiana.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to Shir Chadash Conservative Congregation, Jewish Children’s Regional Services or the charity of your choice.
Shivah Minyanim will be held at 232 Lake Marina Ave. New Orleans, at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 18, and at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, August 19; Tuesday, August 20; Wednesdsay, August 21; and Thursday, August 22.
Arrangements were by Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home.
