Retiree Marilyn Gaethe rites set for Sunday afternoon

MARILYN RASKIN GAETHE, a retired financial clerk with Mellon Financial Services and a homemaker, passed away peacefully, on Thursday, February 22, 2018.

A native of Leeds, England, she moved to the United States after marrying her husband, who was in the military at the time. She was a longtime resident of New Orleans and an active member in Congregation Gates of Prayer Synagogue, where her son Philip has been the longtime education director.

Predeceased by her husband Mervin Gaethe in 2008, she is survived by her children Stuart Gaethe (Christine) and Philip Gaethe (Faye), her sister Diane Cohen (Brian), a sister-in-law Rachelle Stein (late Terry), three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. 

Graveside services were held on Sunday, February 25, 2018, at Gates of Prayer Cemetery, 1411 Joseph St., at 2:00 pm. Rabbi Robert Lowey officiated. Arrangements were by Tharp-Sontheimer-Tharp Funeral Home of Metairie.
