LimmudFest New Orleans set for March 17-19 weekend
LimmudFest New Orleans has announced its dates for its next weekend of community worship, Jewish learning and other activities. The weekend-long series of events will begin with worship services on Friday night, March 17 at Congregation Gates of Prayer, 4000 West Esplanade Avenue in Metairie.
Shabbat morning services for all three major branches of Judaism will continue at the main sanctuary, library and Bart Room at Gates of Prayer on Saturday with a community lunch being held after services conclude. Afternoon sessions will be held at Gates of Prayer and next door at Congregation Beth Israel, 4004 West Esplanade Avenue.
Jewish learning continues with a big day of activities and courses on Sunday, March 19 at the Uptown JCC, 5342 St. Charles. A lunch is planned for all participants.
Carla Friend, a children’s entertainer and noted early childhood education expert, is among the more noted guests coming to the 2023 LimmudFest. Friend is the founder and executive director of Tkiva, a nonprofit organization that uses music experiences to link to Jewish culture and community.
Friend is a 2018 recipient of the Young Pioneers Award from the Jewish Education Project, a 2019 recipient of “36 Under 36” from the Jewish Week and is a JKids Radio artist.
Registration for the 2023 LimmudFest New Orleans events goes live in January.
