JFS holds Spring Soirée in August

In a case of better late than never,  Jewish Family Service of Greater New Orleans (JFS) held its Spring Soirée, its first live gathering since 2019,  on Thursday, August 4 at Calcasieu, a Donald Link venue at 930 Tchoupitoulas Street. Originally scheduled for May 19, it was rescheduled because of an uptick in the COVID infection rate in March.

JFS, one of the constituent agencies of the Jewish Federation of Greater New Orleans, is a social service agency with clients across a broad spectrum of the metropolitan area. JFS programs and services provide accessible and affordable mental health care for clients and have specific programs to assist elderly segments of the community in a variety of ways and to prevent teen suicide. 

Dr. David Dulitz, president of the JFS board greeted a small group of dedicated attendees, who enjoyed a variety of light snacks and cocktails as a fundraiser for their many varied programs.

According to Dulitz, JFS reached 3,000 individuals last year. Its Teen Life Counts suicide prevention program registered 1,900 clients, while 1100 received counseling, case management and care for seniors. 

“The staff are the every day heroes of this agency,” Dulitz said in acknowledging executive director Roselle Ungar and several members of her administrative staff.
