CGOP announces $1 million camp campaign

Congregation Gates of Prayer (CGOP) announced a $1 million investment program to help defray the costs of sleepaway Jewish camp for the benefit of the members of the Metairie Reform synagogue.

GO-Camp Initiative.

The project called the Gates of Camp Initiative is also known as the GO-Camp Initiative and will significantly reduce the costs of sleepaway camp, long considered a rite of passage for Jewish youth, by as much as 50% for qualifying students.

“Studies have proven that Jewish summer camp children are more likely to be congregation members, observe Jewish rituals at home, and support Israel,” said Rabbi David Gerber, CGOP Senior Rabbi. “With the GO-Camp Initiative, we hope the children of our community will have impactful summers at camp and meaningful Jewish lives with our congregation throughout the year.”
