Alvin Caplan, co-founder of Industrial Machinery, succumbs

ALVIN SOLOMON CAPLAN, the retired co-founder of Industrial Machinery Company, died on Shabbat, December 29. Caplan, 97, was a livelong resident of New Orleans and died at Lambeth House, an assisted living facility and retirement home. During World War II he served with distinction as a lieutenant in the U. S. Navy. He is survived by his wife Dorothy Ryckman Caplan, his daughter Dale Caplan Strickland (Mike), his son Dr. W. Ryckman Caplan , two grandchildren, a step grandson and four great grandchildren. A private graveside service was held at Metairie Cemetery on Monday, December 31, Rabbi Alexis Berk officiating. Tharp-Sontheimer was in charge of funeral arrangements. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Lambeth House Foundation or the charity of your choice.
